PECAN+ CTF returns to the NT in 2026
The 2-day national cyber competition is held on online Saturday 22 August (training) and in-person Sunday 23 August (competition) from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day.

PECAN+ CTF is a free annual national competition aimed at senior students in Years 9 to 12.
Students can nominate teams of between 2 and 4 members or as an individual.
Where students register as an individual participant, they will be placed into a team.

Day 1 – Online training day
Registered competitors attend the online training day to learn cyber techniques using free tools.
You will learn about using VMs and Linux, including solving challenges in web exploitation, steganography, cryptography and forensics.
Participants will face problems in:
- cryptography
- digital forensics
- Linux
- OSINT
- reverse engineering
- steganography
- web exploitation.
Day 2 – In-person competition day
The competition day is run at locations in every State and Territory.
You work to crack codes by tackling fun, hands-on challenges and pitting yourself against fellow students/competitors from across Australia.
All registered competitors must attend in-person.
Catering is provided on the day.
