PECAN+ CTF 2026 is coming!

PECAN+ CTF 2026 is a national in-person Capture the Flag cybersecurity competition.

The competition was founded and led by Edith Cowan University, in collaboration with Universities, TAFEs and the Australian cybersecurity ecosystem.

Designed for high school students in years 9 to 12, students compete nationally to solve cyber related challenges in a range of topic areas.

The competition provides students the opportunity to put their ethical hacking skills to the test and learn cybersecurity skills in a fun, practical way!

About the event

The event is free to enter.

Students compete in teams of 2 to 4 members.

Students can register as a team or individual. Students who register as an individual, will be placed into a team.

There are national awards and prizes up for grabs for each category including top-scoring all-female teams.

Catering is provided to all participating students on competition day.

Event locations

The competition day is an in-person event that will be hosted in both Darwin and Alice Springs.

Training day is hosted in Darwin with registered students attending it online.

Key dates

The event will kick off from 9.00am and finish at 4.30pm on both days:

  • Training day (online): Saturday 22 August 2026
  • Competition day (in-person): Sunday 23 August 2026.
